2016-11-13, Awajishima's Yumebutai - The Miracle World of Plants and Tadao Ando (architect)

Woke up to ANOTHER beautiful fall day!!!!  How lucky am I??!!
Today we headed back towards Kobe, with our main stop being on Awaji Island which one has to cross to get from Tokushima (on the island of Shikoku where I used to live) to the main island of Honshu.  It's a long, narrow island, and definitely a place I would live if given the chance (ie. a job).
On this island are a couple of Ando Tadao's buildings which for some reason I find very interesting and attractive even though I hate the materials he uses - concrete and glass.

Even the parking garage hallway is cool.

I love bamboo in any form and this sculpture is really nice.

Next door is a big garden/park.

An outdoor theater.

A big playground.

A dog friendly place to eat with outdoor seating -  very unusual.

This was quite funny.  This couple had 4 white dogs and they were trying to stick their faces through
these holes to take a picture.  A passerby stopped to help but the person to dog ratio was still off!
Cute and good entertainment while we were waiting for our lunch!

Another unusual occurrence, very spicy curry.  Japanese curry usually isn't spicy at all.
It had me blowing my nose throughout the meal!

The Westin Hotel and Conference Center.  Also designed by Tadao Ando.

Surprisingly these chairs are very comfortable and have good support.

The building of this complex.

A few extra pictures from my phone.
