I took the train to Nagahama to meet Takako who works in the ABC Nagahama office. She drove us to the northwestern part of Lake Biwa where we took a gondola to the top of the mountain to see the lilies.
In the winter it's a ski area - very short easy ski runs - and in the summer people go up to see the lilies, usually. But this year they were damaged by a typhoon so there weren't very many. Normally the mountainside is awash in color. Today there were only a few blooming here and there. But it was really nice to be up on the mountain, and much cooler.

| There was a kid's area - sledding down the slope, pools, etc. |

On the way home we stopped at Takako's friends' peanut senbei (cracker/cookie) shop. They make the senbei in a building behind their house.
We were given, and bought, some senbei and then we were sent on our way with some fresh tofu that had just been delivered. Takako and I stopped at Sushi Rou for a snack and then at her house so she could give me some tomatoes. Back on the train, pedaled home and jumped into a cold shower. Aah
