Spring seems to have arrived. YEAH!!!! I haven't worn my winter jacket or long underwear all week! All kinds of flowers are blooming, although I was impressed at how many flowers continued to bloom throughout the winter. I spent Saturday doing a little shopping and riding my bike around looking at flowers.

| The dogwood are beautiful. |
| The two on my street. |
And I'm lucky enough to have late blooming sakura nearby. The trees that line this little river are in different states of blooming. Some are completely finished, others haven't opened fully and others are just past full bloom (the leaves come out when they have passed full bloom). But all are beautiful!
| There are 3 of these unusual trees. They are cherry trees but the blossoms are green! |
| This is kuzuyu (kudzuyu) which is a sweet soup thickened with kuzu starch. People used to eat it when they had a cold. |
Except for the river above most of the sakura have been gone for a week or two. As you can see from the next picture, the scenery is totally different now.
| The trees across the river are zelkova trees. |
I love to see all the birds in the Seri River.
| And I even found a lilac! |
| A plethora of little flowers near my house. |
And that's that.
Our Golden Week vacation begins this Friday and I will go to Taiwan with a coworker on Sunday. I'm looking forward to a lot of eating (great street food in Taiwan) boba (bubble) tea everyday and a of course, although maybe secondary to all the eating, some sightseeing. It's the rainy season and it looks like it rains everyday but hopefully not all day. I booked an airbnb place for the first time and we will have a whole apartment with a kitchen and 3 or 4 bedrooms to ourselves. Can't wait!
