2106-03-16, My Week

My replacement, Amanda started work on March 7.  I will train her for 3 weeks and then I will move downstairs to the preschool/kindergarten.  Amanda is a sweet young woman (25) with a great attitude and I think my students will have a lot of fun with her as their teacher.  A plus for me is that she and I share many interests.  She likes temples, shrines, flowers, festivals and we like the same foods as well.  So I think we will have fun together in the coming year.  We spent Saturday together and I showed her some temples, we had lunch together and then went to Japanese class which she enjoyed.  She needs to get a bike though if she wants to go around with me!

On Sunday I went to the little farmer's market where there was a man who was checking bikes.  My legs have been aching even when I ride to work and I thought it was because my legs were so out of shape from not riding around much.  Happy to report it wasn't me, it was my bike.  He did something and it's once again a pleasure to ride around.
I was disappointed in the farmer's market.  There was only one stand with vegetables, it's become more of a craft market.

After that I went to a concert at the Bunka Plaza.  It wasn't the best concert I've been to there.  I had
a (nother!!!) cold and the air in there made my nose even stuffier which led me to breath through my mouth which made me cough often so I left after the first half.

We all had a prep week at work from the 21st - to get ready for the new school year which starts April 4, and to decorate for Easter (even though Easter is over).  On Wednesday ABC treated us all to lunch at a wedding resort/hotel.  A bus picked us up for the 20 minute ride and that was fun.

Lake Biwa out the window.

2 of my new coworkers - Shiori and Akina.

When we arrived back at school we found the first cherry blossom (sakura) had opened on our tree!
That means that next Wednesday should be full bloom.
